CE marking

High-risk AI systems must bear CE marking to indicate conformity with the Regulation, affixed visibly, legibly, and indelibly.

Key points

  • Affixed to the system, its packaging, or its documentation
  • For digital-only systems, a digital CE marking is used
  • Followed by the notified body number where that body was involved
  • Only affixed after conformity assessment and declaration are complete
  • Not applicable to limited-risk transparency cases such as labelled AI photos
